Sunday services

10.30am

We have one main service on Sundays.

Our worship has a variety of styles, ranging from contemporary songs led by a music group to the best of classic hymns played on the organ.  The vicar shares the leading and preaching with a team of laity.

Every service has a Bible-based focus.  All sermons are recorded and can be accessed on the members' area on this website.  Recognizing that not everyone learns in the same way, we sometimes experiment with more audio-visual or interactive learning.

Children are very important to us at St Augustine's.  Children and adults begin together with all-age worship and learning for the first 20 minutes or so. The children  then leave for age-related groups.  On Holy Communion Sundays they rejoin the adults for this part of the service.

On the 1st and 3rd Sundays in the month, we have Morning Service. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays we share Holy Communion.  During the school holidays, when there are no children's groups, some of these services become All-Age Services.

After the service, there is a time of fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee.  There is table tennis and a pool table which the children look forward to (and even some adults!)  On the first Sunday of the month there is a Fair Trade stall with a wide range of goods for sale.

Some parents with small children can be anxious if their children are too noisy or fractious.  We are very understanding and accommodating at St Augustine's.  Our worship area is large, with plenty of room to move around at the back or sides.  There is a creche for under 3s in the church lounge, with excellent toilet and baby-changing facilities adjacent.
