What is it?
Hippo Babies is the sister of Hippo Club, and provides a quieter alternative for carers of babies under a year old
It is a much smaller, relaxed group which meets in the church lounge on Friday mornings in term time from 10.30 – 12.00 am.
It is run by a small team of volunteers from the church.
What happens?
The morning is very unstructured, though we generally do group introductions shortly after starting. There’s plenty of tea (and alternatives), a safe play space for the babies, with appropriate toys, and most importantly, other people with whom to share the joys and questions arising from the care of young babies! From time to time we arrange specific activities (eg a talk on weaning, or sleep, or a demonstration from one of the local music groups, or baby massage – whatever the group requests)
What does it cost?
The current charge is £1 per session, which includes refreshments.
What about membership?
There is none for this group! Anyone with a baby under one year old is welcome to drop in. A baby “graduates” on his or her first birthday, as we feel that at that point Hippo Club may offer a more stimulating environment. Children over 1 year old are not allowed at Hippo Babies.
